View all RYA Voyages

Untiy will be offering a full range on RYA courses throughout the summer months. Under the watchful eye of your skipper, who will be a qualified instructor learn how to sail a beautiful and stable gaff rigged sailing boat.

On deck her wide open decks offers lots of room to get your sea legs and pull on ropes without all being squashed into a small cockpit.

Below decks she is comfortably laid out with 5 guest crew berths up forward, a heads(marine toilet), central saloon and galley is situated just as you come down the companionway steps.

Sail Only Weekend Break’s

Escape and explore the coastline around Falmouth and Carrick Roads onboard Unity for a long weekend sailing breal where you do not use the engine.

Embrace ingenuity by sailing on and off anchor and pontoons if you are feeling brave.  Have a go at doing like they used to before the invention of our modern diesel engine. It’s not how far you get its about embracing the experience of getting there.

Traditional Skills Long Weekend Breaks

Whether you have sailed all your life on Modern sailing boats or have never sailed before but you want a weekend break dedicated to learning as much about traditional sailing boats as possible. Have a go at warping a boat and manouvering in close quaters under engine and under sail. This is a weekend dedicated to having a go without working towards a specific qualifcation.

RYA Competent Crew

The RYA Competent crew course is focused on hands on sailing and learning. Aimed at complete beginners or those who have a little sailing experience and want to formalise their learning by completing this first step on the RYA ladder.

We want to develop your love of sailing by ensuring that you feel happy and knowledgable member of any crew. This is a fun and enjoyable experience. You will be taught to steer the boat, hoist the sails and also how to reduce it when needed, and obviously how to tie knots.

This course offers you the opportunity to explore the Cornish coastline from our home in Falmouth. Anchor in remote bays, go alongside pontoons in rivers and alongside harbour walls and if possible experience night sailing.

The skills you learn will be transferable to modern boats but after this RYA competent crew course you should also feel at home on other traditional boats and even big tall ships with blocks and tackles.

RYA Day Skippper

Take the first steps towards skippering a boat under the watchful eye and helpful advice of the onboard instructor.

Learn to be the one to make and execute a passage plan, take the boat off a mooring buoy or onto a pontoon. Keep an eye on the weather forecast and decide what sail’s to hoist each day and ensure that your crew is kept happy and warm. You will be instructed on all aspects of skippering a boat.

This course is about encouraging you to make the step to being skipper however it can be a challenge to be the person making the calls so do not be too tough on yourself.

On successful completion of this course you should feel confident to complete short day passages as the skipper in an area of water that you know.

To make the best use of the time onboard we strongly encourage you to have completed a day skipper theory course.

Yachtmaster Examination Prep Week

The yachtmaster coastal and offshore qualification are the ultimate for UK small boat sailors and is a requirement for those looking to work professionally on boats.

An intense week of boat handling under engine and sail, navigational exercises, man over board drills and sailing at night. Be encouraged and improve through the advice and coaching of your instructor. Then at the end of the week an external examiner will come onboard to test you. This is a hard week of sailing and while rewarding involves long days of sailing with early rising and late bedtimes.

We recommend this week to those with prior experience of gaff rig boats. There is a lot to cover and not enough to be getting to grips with a type of boat that you have no experience of.
