Kelda creates cast bronze and silver jewellery among a cluster of workshops on the top of a windy hill in Cornwall, UK. She takes inspiration from her life sailing around the rugged, rocky Cornish coast working on Pilot Cutters, as well as venturing further afield on her own boat. If you look closely at Kelda’s deadeye pendants you might recognise their form, especially if you have sailed on any of the boats from Working Sail, as deadeyes are used in their rigging. Kelda’s deadeye pendants are cast from solid bronze using an ancient method called the lost wax process, which originated thousands of years ago. Each pendant is hand finished and unique. It is secured to the leather using the ‘West Country whipping’ technique, a style which originated in Cornwall. When you wear your deadeye pendant you can maintain your connection with with the traditional sailing world and/or time spent onboard Pellew or Agnes.
